WHAT IS PHOTO ENGRAVING
Photo engraving uses a diamond tipped bit to impact on the blank surface of the jewellery in very fine detail. Your photo is converted into a dot matrix image which is then engraved onto the pendant producing a high definition replica of your original photo. By creating a contrast between light and dark areas of a photo a three-dimensional holographic effect is achieved. When the light falls on the photo jewellery from different angles it gives your photo a magical glint. There is no printng involved in producing these pendants and they have no colour other than the reflective metal.

The quality of the photo you submit to be reproduced will determine how nice your photo pendant looks.
When you reproduce a photo on a pendant it is much smaller than the original. As you reduce a photo in size you lose detail. We optomise your photo to reproduce to the best quality achievable.We recommend focusing on peoples’ faces.
How we prepare your photo for the etching process:
We cut out the background to improve the visibility of the person. In some circumstances we decide to leave the background if we judge it to enhance the visibility of the person.
Because there are so many variations in quality and subject this is a decision that can only be made at the time of producing the pendant. We reserve the right to make this decision on what we think will work best.This is part of the terms and conditions of sale.
How to place an order
Option to preview: Before placing an order you have the option to preview what your photo will look like on a photo pendant. Making a preview is not part of the order process. However making a preview is very useful in helping you see what your photo pendant will look like if you order. And it is helpful to us when producing your pendant. It shows which part of your uploaded photo you want us to engrave onto the pendant; ie just one individuals face from a group; placement of text.
If you submit a poor quality photo this will produce a poor quality pendant.
Email us your photo if in any doubt. Please read the PHOTO REQUIREMENTS before placing an order.
Photo Pendants are made to order and we will neither accept returns nor offer a refund.
Placing an order:
- Upload your photo.
- Give instructions on how you want your photo reproduced.
- Add a dedication if required.
- Choose the font you require.
- Click on Add to Cart.
Choose a chain, key ring and/or gift box by selecting them from PENDANT ACCESSORIES.
Recommended suitable chain etc.options are listed on the same order page and can be seen by scrolling down the page.
When you have placed all your order requirements you will then complete the checkout process and make payment.
Personalised gifts take time to make
These personalised gifts are created by a technical process which can not always be completed in a short-time frame. We apologise for any inconvenience but hope the wait feels worth it when you receive your order.

Sending photos by post or through the website
Sending your photo or digital image to Photo Memento is easy! Upload your photo or image just select the browse button when customising your pendant and locate the file on your computer. If your original image is printed please tick the image posted option, order your item and then send your image to:

We will scan the image and return it to you; please note this will incur a charge of £3.50 for digitally processing the photo. We return your photo with the order.
Photo Pendant Gift Vouchers
Gift Vouchers have an expiry date of 12 months from date of voucher issue Change is not normally given on purchases which cost less than the value of the Gift Voucher presented. Gift Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash Gift Vouchers will be subject to verification at time of presentation and we reserve the right not to accept any vouchers that have or appear to have been forged, damaged, defaced or otherwise tampered with No responsibility will be accepted for lost, stolen, or damaged Gift Vouchers and such vouchers shall not be refunded. To deface a voucher will render it invalid. The unique gift certificate number must be quoted in any correspondence that refers to redeeming the value of the gift certificate.
Dispatch and Delivery of your order
Your order will be sent by 1st Class Royal Mail Recorded Signed For. If no-one is at your delivery address a collection slip will be left. If this is a problem please give an address where someone is available to sign for receipt of the package. We aim to dispatch your order within 5 working days. We are not guaranteeing delivery within 5 working days. If there is nobody to receive the item the postman will leave a card and return your order to the local collection office. Please take this card and some form of identity to the collection office named on the delivery card. If you want it left with a neighbour or any alternative to receiving the item in person please inform us when placing your order. Alternatively use your work address to receive a delivery. What happens if my order has not arrived? If you have not received the order within 5 working days of the dispatched date please contact us and we will give you the most up-to-date tracking information available from Royal Mail. PLEASE NOTE ROYAL MAIL DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE AN ITEM IS LOST UNTIL 15 WORKING DAYS HAVE PASSED. FOR THIS REASON WE WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE AN ITEM IS LOST UNTIL THE SAME PERIOD OF TIME HAS PASSED. WE WILL NEITHER OFFER A REPLACEMENT NOR REFUND UNTIL WE HAVE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM ROYAL MAIL THAT THE ITEM IS LOST. Sending Orders to Europe, Scandinavia, USA and the rest of the world We will happily send orders to any country Royal Mail delivers to. From Ireland to Australia, From the USA to Russia. We charge a flat rate which will be included at the time of taking payment. The service we offer is called International signed for which is an airmail service with a signed for delivery. This insures your order will arrive safely. We can not give specific delivery times as each country and location have their own working criteria. Please note we operate normal working hours Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. It is between these hours we will reply to emails and process orders.
We accept international orders and send your order by airmail. This for a signed for delivery which is insured against loss.
Questions or complaints
Complaints or claims must be notified to us within fourteen days of receipt of goods, or in the case of non-delivery, in a reasonable time after the goods were expected to arrive. See our returns policy above.
If you have a question or complaint, please contact us. Please give your Order number with your email to help us. If your question relates to a physical aspect of the item received please supply a photo with your email to help us understand your claim.
Law and jurisdiction
These terms (and the provision of goods and services by us) are governed by and to be interpreted in accordance with English law. In the event of any dispute arising in relation of these terms or in relation to the provision of any goods and services by us the English courts will have exclusive jurisdiction over such dispute.
Merging two photos on one pendant
If you have two photos of people you want to appear on the same pendant we can merge the two photos. Just upload both photos in the order process and make sure to include an accurate description in the order comment box if as to which individuals you want to appear on the pendant. Please note: Due to the complex nature of producing this item we may make production decisions which means we will not be able to follow your instructions to the letter. PHOTO MERGING PROCESS

Hypo Allergenic Jewellery
All our pendants are made in compliance with European law, and satisfy the European standards and legislation for The Dangerous Substances and Preparations (Nickel) (Safety) Regulations 2000. They are described as hypo allergenic safe; meaning they should not cause any unpleasant reaction when worn next to the skin. Some individuals have an extremely low tolerance of all metals. If in doubt we recommend the pendants are not worn next to the skin.
Taking care of your photo engraved pendant
Wearing these pendants when exercising, bathing, showering or washing can damage them. Human sweat is acidic and will corrode the pendant. The speed at which the pendant corrodes will depend on the acidity of the individual’s sweat. Humans have different degrees of acidity in their sweat depending on diet and hormonal levels. Contact with perfumes, deodorants, hairspray, or creams is not recommended as they contain chemicals which can corrode the pendant. Rubbing the image with your hands, (a common comforting behaviour, particularly when grieving), corrodes the image and will cause the picture to deteriorate rapidly. To maintain a photo pendant in its original condition we recommend the minimum amount of contact with your skin as human sweat is acidic and will corrode the photo very quickly. Photo Pendant UK is not responsible for damage caused in the above circumstances. How to look after your photo pendant: A light polishing with a lense cleaning cloth will help protect it. Brush gently on the photo surface a few times then on the reverse face as that side comes into contact with your skin. Jewellery cleaning liquids or cloths are NOT recommended. When you are not wearing the pendant keep in it’s sealed plastic bag, in a dry atmosphere in the velvet pouch supplied. If you adhere to this after care you will enjoy your photo pendant for many years to come.
